Ron Kovic’s Possible Bid for Election to Congress

Share

I wish I could have been outside that Stanton theater (“Kovic Encouraged by Comments of Moviegoers,” Jan. 27) to convey these thoughts to Ron Kovic: Being the subject of a successful Hollywood movie does not make one a good congressman or even a formidable opponent.

Not everyone in the 38th Congressional District goes to movies, and those who do can tell the difference between fact and fantasy--Tom Cruise and Ron Kovic.

Oh, he’ll get a lot of support from The Times and even a lot of Times readers (although letters I’ve seen favorable to him were written by people who don’t even live in this district). The majority of voters in this district don’t agree with The Times (in respect to (U.S. Rep. Robert K.) Dornan, among other things), as evidenced by his election victories.

This is one resident of the 38th Congressional District who doesn’t want a “professional malcontent” representing me.

One final comment--this one to Dornan: “Piece of cake,” Mr. Congressman.
