World IN BRIEF : MONGOLIA : Thousands Protest Communist Powers

Mongolians stirred up by the Soviet Communist Party’s decision to relinquish its monopoly on power demanded that Mongolia’s Communists do the same in a rally that drew 4,000 to 5,000 people, reports reaching Beijing said. The three-hour protest in front of Lenin Museum in Mongolia’s capital, Ulan Bator, was called by the Mongolian Democratic Union. The rally was described as peaceful, with almost no police or military presence.
