Amplicon Earnings: Amplicon Inc., a Santa Ana high-tech equipment leasing company, reported second fiscal quarter net earnings of $1.4 million, compared with net income of $1.3 million for the comparable period a year ago. Revenue for the quarter ended Dec. 31 declined 5%, to $40.1 million from $42.2 million. For the first half of both fiscal years, net income was flat at $2.4 million. Revenue dropped 3%, to $68.9 million from $71.2 million. Patrick E. Paddon, president and chief executive, said the revenue decline resulted from some market disruption in the mid-range computer industry caused by recent IBM announcements that cut back equipment price discounts.
