All-Winter Shelter for Homeless to Be Studied

Share

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors agreed Tuesday to look into opening shelters for the homeless every night during the winter, not just in the bitter cold and rain.

Supervisor Ed Edelman’s motion, approved unanimously, asks county staff to report within two weeks on whether the existing policy should be changed, and if so, what funds are available.

Currently, National Guard armories are opened when the temperature dips below 40 degrees or below 50 degrees with a 50% chance of rain.
