IRVINE : Expert on Terrorism to Speak Tonight

An expert on terrorism’s effect on democratic institutions will speak tonight at UC Irvine.

Paul Wilkinson, a professor at St. Andrews University in Scotland and director of the Institute for Study of Conflict and Terrorism, will speak at 8 p.m. in the Physical Science Lecture Hall.

Wilkinson has served as a consultant on terrorism to governments and news services and has written several books on the subject.

The lecture, entitled “Terrorism and Freedom,” is sponsored by UCI’s Center for Global Peace and Conflict Studies. It is the fifth of nine in a series on international terrorism. The series is funded by Thomas and Elizabeth Tierney of Santa Ana Heights.

Tickets are $8 general admission, $5 for senior citizens, faculty and staff and $2 for students. Tickets are available at the Bren Center box office, Ticketron or at the door.
