CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SANTA CLARA : Park Fires 28 for Theft, Drug Abuse

Great America amusement park has fired 28 of its 160 full-time employees, including some in management, for stealing and drug and alcohol use. The dismissals came after an investigation of several months by a private firm. The investigation was prompted by an anonymous tip, park spokeswoman Lise Hurst said. The types of drugs involved and the amount of stolen property were not disclosed.
