Chrysler Postponing Layoffs: Chrysler Corp. said it will postpone by two weeks the indefinite layoff of more than 2,200 hourly workers at three U.S. assembly plants while it fine-tunes its production to market conditions. Company spokesman Doug Nicoll said 724 workers at its Jeep plant in Toledo, Ohio, as well as 750 workers at each of its car assembly plants in Newark, Del., and Belvidere, Ill., will be idled indefinitely on April 9 instead of March 26.
