Oklahoma beat Colorado by 22 points Friday night at Norman, Okla., but it was far from a rout.

After being frustrated most of the night by Colorado’s deliberate offense, the 11th-ranked Sooners scored 19 of the game’s last 21 points and pulled away to an 86-64 victory in a Big Eight Conference game.

“The last five minutes it got away from us,” Colorado Coach Tom Miller said. “I can’t fault the kids at all. I thought they really gave a great effort. Oklahoma’s just a real explosive team.”

The victory improved Oklahoma’s record to 19-3 and 7-2 in conference play. Colorado (10-14, 2-9) lost its 50th consecutive regular-season conference road game.

Jackie Jones scored a career-high 30 points and Skeeter Henry added 21 points and seven assists for Oklahoma, which won its 43rd consecutive game at home and beat the Buffaloes for the 20th time in a row.

No. 14 La Salle 95, Iona 78--Doug Overton scored 21 points and Lionel Simmons added 20 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at Philadelphia.

Overton and Simmons triggered a 10-0 run at the end of the first half that gave La Salle (21-1, 11-0) a lead it never relinquished.

With Iona (10-14, 5-8) ahead, 30-27, with 5:04 left in the half, Simmons stole the ball and fed Overton for a layup. Overton’s jump shot at the buzzer gave La Salle its 37-30 lead.

La Salle, which has won 13 consecutive games since losing to Loyola Marymount, opened the second half with a 12-4 run, ending with a jump shot by Randy Woods for a 49-34 lead with 15:53 remaining.
