From Times staff and wire service reports

Award-winning actress Debbie Morgan has defected from the long-running soap, “All My Children” to the newer “Generations.”

Morgan, who won a 1989 supporting actress daytime Emmy for her portrayal of Dr. Angela Hubbard on the ABC soap, will join the cast of NBC’s “Generations” in late March as lawyer Chantal Marshall.

Morgan, who called the move a professional and not a financial one, said, “No matter how many Emmys I might win on ‘All My Children,’ it’s always going to be the Susan Lucci show.” Lucci, a 20-year veteran of “All My Children,” has been nominated several times but has never won an Emmy for her portrayal of Erica Montgomery.
