NEWPORT BEACH : Nobel Prize-Winner Elie Wiesel to Speak
Nobel Peace Prize-winner Elie Wiesel will speak on “What Ancient Masters Can Teach Our Generation” at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Temple Bat Yahm, 1101 Camelback St. in Newport Beach.
The Romanian-born author, who now lives in New York, is a survivor of Nazi concentration camps at Auschwitz, Birkenau and Buchenwald. In addition to describing the horrors he witnessed, he has campaigned for human rights and a belief in God.
In awarding Wiesel the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986, the Nobel Committee called him “one of the most important spiritual leaders and guides in an age when violence, repression and racism continue to characterize the world.”
The lecture will be open to the public. Written questions will be taken after the lecture. Tickets, at $30 for reserved seating and $15 for general admission, may be obtained by calling the temple at (714) 644-1999.
