Two undercover Secret Service agents trying to buy counterfeit cash and a man under investigation were wounded in a shoot-out that erupted during a meeting at a house, authorities said.
The agents, a 37-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, suffered superficial leg wounds and were in fair but stable condition today at County-USC Medical Center. The agents’ names were withheld.
Ignacio Padilla, 44, of Los Angeles, one of two men under investigation, suffered chest and hip wounds and was in critical condition at Martin Luther King Jr.-Drew Medical Center. The second man, Oliveros Orosco, 26, was not harmed. Orosco was arrested for investigation of attempted murder.
The shooting occurred about 9 p.m. Thursday at a house near 70th Street and Compton Avenue.
The agents and the two men got into a fight inside the home and “the altercation spilled outside,” Deputy Chris Wahla said.
