NAMES IN THE NEWS : Tammy Bakker Gets S.C. License
Tammy Faye Bakker has renewed her South Carolina driver’s license, a right reserved for state residents, but refuses to say whether she is moving back from Florida to the state where PTL was based.
Bakker told reporters she did not want to talk about why she got the license renewed Thursday. The state requires that a person get a license within 30 days after moving to South Carolina, but it must be returned if the person establishes another residence.
Bakker has been conducting a ministry in Orlando, Fla. Her husband, Jim, is serving 45 years at a federal prison in Rochester, Minn., for fraud in his raising funds at the PTL television ministry in nearby Ft. Mill.
