S. Africa-Israel Military Ties

Share

Letters like the one written by Richard Rebhun (Feb. 14) make my very angry. I am tired of hearing cries of anti-Semitism about statements that were made by Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Rev. Jesse Jackson over five years ago. The effect of those words on Jews is minuscule in comparison to the effect that the nuclear capability of the South African government will have on the lives of 30 million black people in southern Africa.

In 1987, Tel Aviv and Johannesburg declared themselves sister cities. While it may be true that Japan and European countries have relationships with South Africa, this does not absolve Israel of its wrongdoing.
