Ex-Deputy Sentenced in Bogus Salary Claim

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy who applied for a disability pension while doubling as a male exotic dancer was sentenced Friday to three years’ probation and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service.

Deron Michael McBee, who has since resigned from the Sheriff’s Department, was also fined $1,000 by Superior Court Judge Clarence Stromwall. McBee pleaded no contest Nov. 20 to attempted grand theft.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Ed Feldman said that several years ago McBee was placed on paid sick leave after claiming he suffered a back injury while on duty. While McBee was claiming he could not work, deputies learned he was performing as a male exotic dancer at a West Los Angeles Chippendales nightclub. He also joined the club’s road show and was secretly filmed by undercover deputies while performing in Atlantic City, Feldman said.
