WCC ROUNDUP : Gonzaga Tunes Up With a Victory

Jim McPhee and Mike Winger each scored 19 points to lead Gonzaga to a 75-62 victory over St. Mary’s in a West Coast Conference game Saturday night at Moraga, Calif.
The last-place Bulldogs (8-19, 3-11) will face first-place Loyola Marymount in the first round of the WCC tournament next weekend at Loyola.
Seventh-place St. Mary’s (7-19, 4-10), will play No. 2 Pepperdine.
Gonzaga, which led the whole game, led 39-30 at halftime. St. Mary’s got within 55-50 with 11:28 left, but St. Mary’s went the next 5 1/2 minutes without scoring as Gonzaga went ahead 65-50.
Mike Vontoure led St. Mary’s with 26 points, including 20 in the second half.
