DESIGN : Good Golly, It’s the Molly

Share

LATELY, when venturing into L.A.’s more savvy restaurants with your little companion in tow, you’ve been offered the best seat in the house: the Mollychair, a spiffy, Memphis-ed out A-frame booster seat. Spago has one; so do Fama and the Hard Rock, Patina, Duplex and Indigo, to name but a few.

Now designer Michael Moore (Beverly Hills Breakfast Club), whose then-1-year-old Molly inspired the chair, has made it available for the home. Each sturdy little Mollychair ($250) is different, but all are made of 13-ply Baltic birch from Finland, faced with a variety of Formica laminates, with a “pony-hide” backrest and black-nylon-webbing safety straps fixed to a satin-finish aluminum bar in front. Every surface is washable, the legs are virtually untippable, and it will accommodate up to age 4.
