Suit Against GE Goes to Trial: A trial began Wednesday in Van Nuys Superior Court in a $109-million lawsuit filed by American Aviation Industries against General Electric Co. over a failed partnership to produce a more powerful corporate aircraft. AAI claims that it had a joint venture agreement with General Electric Capital Corp. to retrofit Lockheed corporate aircraft with more powerful engines, but GE managers broke the contract and made it impossible for AAI to receive outside financing. General Electric Capital had no comment on the case. (Filed Aug. 22, 1988; Case No. NWC039965)
