Tokyo Rally Continues; Nikkei Closes Up 694.04

TOKYO —
Share prices rebounded for a second straight day today, boosting the key Nikkei average above the 34,000 mark.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange’s 225-issue Nikkei index rose 694.04, or 2%, to close at 34,591.99.
The rally, which began in early trading, continued the sharp recovery from Monday’s plunge, the second-worst single-day drop ever.
On Tuesday, the index rose 576.08 points, or 1.73%. Monday’s decline measured 1,569.10 points, or 4.5%.
