First Interstate May Sell Banks: Los Angeles-based First Interstate Bancorp said it may sell three of its four banks in New Mexico as part of its efforts to bolster its financial condition. The prospective buyer is United New Mexico Financial Corp. The banks--in Albuquerque, Hobbs and Roswell--have combined assets of more than $700 million.
