MCA Acquires Recording Firm: MCA Inc., the Universal City-based entertainment company, has acquired the independent New York recording firm GRP Records Inc. for about $40 million in MCA stock. GRP, a jazz label that has distributed its recordings through MCA, is headed by co-founders Larry Rosen and Dave Grusin. MCA said the company’s management would remain in place, with Rosen assuming the new title of president and Grusin becoming executive vice president.
