Blue Cross Reports Gain: Blue Cross of California reported a net gain for the year of $75.7 million, according to the nonprofit company’s 1989 annual statement filed with the California Department of Insurance. The results contrast with a $9.1-million loss in 1988. Blue Cross cited “increased sales, new products, improved customer service and lower administrative costs.”
