Mother Faces Prison in Toddler’s Death
The mother of a toddler who died after repeatedly being dunked headfirst into a toilet struck a deal with prosecutors Friday, pleading no contest to a second-degree murder charge.
Under the plea accepted by Circuit Judge Dale Durrance, Sheryl McGee Coe, 21, will face up to 30 years in prison for her role in the death of 2-year-old Bradley McGee.
The Lakeland, Fla., woman had been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse, which could have brought a life term. Her husband, Thomas Edward Coe, 22, faces trial on the same charges this summer in Ft. Lauderdale.
