GARDENER’S CHECKLIST

Share

For dedicated gardeners, here are suggestions on what to do in the garden this week from the California Assn. of Nurserymen:

Plant a tree to celebrate Arbor Day on Wednesday. It’s a gift of lasting beauty and helps purify air, acts as a windbreak, noise barrier and provides cool shade.

If part of your vegetable garden doesn’t receive full sun all day, in those areas plant carrots, radishes, chives, beets or lettuce because they’re grown for their roots or foliage.

Wisteria can be pruned heavily after spring bloom.

When you buy bedding plants in flats, care for them until planting time--don’t let them dry out or place them in the hot sun.
