Moving Experience

Nancy Belcher’s article about the American Museum of the Moving Image (“Screen and TV Legends Live Again at Museum of the Moving Image,” Feb. 11) brought back memories of growing up in New York City and made me homesick for Astoria in Queens. Going to Astoria from Manhattan before World War II was a pilgrimage involving several changes of train. My mother and I once made a memorable trip especially to see movie stars at the Astoria Studios that the story describes so well. We missed the leading stars but did catch a glimpse of Mary Brian, a star of the original Peter Pan in the 1920s. There was excitement galore when she smiled warmly at us.
