Apple Computer Inc. has officially announced the resignation of its executive in charge of new product development, Jean-Louis Gassee. The resignation was expected. Earlier this month, Apple Chairman John Sculley said he would take charge of new products at the Cupertino, Calif., personal computer maker, a function that Gasse has handled for the past five years.
