Tibet

The article by Pico Iyer “The Wind Carries No Voice but Sorrow” (Op-Ed Page, Feb. 26) of happenings in Tibet under the brutal Communist Chinese regime brought tears to my eyes even though many things he wrote were familiar since the first reports of internationalist organizations way back in 1962. Yet China was recipient of U.S. largess and continues to be so, thanks to influence of people like Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger.

The gentleness of Tibetan spirit is levelled not only by Chinese guns but also by U.S. aid to China and the bankrupt geopolitical strategy of politicians who paved the way for carnage in Cambodia.
