A group of writers and academics is starting a journal with the aim of bringing liberal ideas back to the top of the national agenda.

The American Prospect, scheduled to debut Sunday and be published quarterly, “marks the rebirth of no-apologies liberalism,” according to a release.

“We’re not neo-liberals, or post-liberals or any other hybrid. We’re liberals,” said co-editor Robert Kuttner.

The entry of the journal coincides with the exit of the Cold War and its attending fixation on military issues, the editors said.

The journal’s board of sponsors includes economist John Kenneth Galbraith, historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. and Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children’s Defense fund.
