Plans Proposed to Boost U.S. Chip Sales in Japan: A task force created by the U.S. Semiconductor Industry Assn. and the Electronics Industries Assn. of Japan called on non-Japanese chip makers to improve their sales and service in Japan and to modify or redesign their semiconductors to meet Japanese needs. The task force also recommended that foreign suppliers be given a chance to demonstrate their technical and product development capabilities.
