WASHINGTON — Republican National Committee Chairman Lee Atwater, who has a non-malignant brain tumor, was released from the hospital Thursday, a spokeswoman said.
Atwater, 39, fainted Monday while speaking at a fund-raising breakfast. After a battery of tests at George Washington University Medical Center proved inconclusive, he underwent a biopsy that revealed the tumor.
Committee spokeswoman Leslie Goodman said Atwater is expected to return to work today and will begin radiation treatment on the tumor Monday.
