New Curbs on Cigarette Smoking

Share

In answer to your editorial on smoking, may I say you should get your figures straight.

A gallon of alcohol has killed more people than all the cigarettes put together!

When I get in my car and light a cigarette I don’t go out and kill people! Sure, they are both bad for anyone but don’t discriminate--yes?

Cigarette smokers pay more taxes than others. The airlines now ban smoking (the cabins of airlines will never have clean air), yet one can get drinks of alcohol in airport lounges and on airplanes and step off the airplane drunk, get into a car and kill people.

Homes aren’t broken up by cigarette smokers, nor are wives and children abused! Alcohol is the deadliest drug. Yet you don’t see these do-gooders getting liquor off airplanes, out of restaurants or beer ads off TV.

How about the medical care for alcoholics? Cigarette smokers more than pay for their care with the taxes they pay--yet they don’t raise taxes on alcohol.

So let us see you do-gooders get a ban on alcohol in airplanes, lounges and restaurants and demand higher taxes on alcohol to pay your way for hospitals and doctors!
