Tugboats Round Up 14 Runaway Barges in ‘River Rodeo’
Associated Press
NEW ORLEANS —
Tugboats on Friday worked to round up as many as 14 runaway grain barges, closing a 20-mile stretch of the Mississippi River, the Coast Guard said.
“I’m told it looks like a river rodeo with tugs chasing barges all over the place,” said Petty Officer Bob Morehead.
There were no reports of injuries.
The barges got loose after a tugboat and a freighter collided.
