World IN BRIEF : VATICAN CITY : Pope Plans Visit to Czechoslovakia

The Vatican announced that Pope John Paul II will visit Czechoslovakia next month, his first visit to an East European country other than his native Poland. The Pope accepted a January invitation from President Vaclav Havel and Catholic leaders to visit the nation. He plans to spend less than two days in Czechoslovakia. He will arrive April 21. Havel reportedly wanted the visit before elections in June.
