Parents Thank Cardinal: New York’s Cardinal John O’Connor said Sunday he has received an “outpouring” of letters from parents from all over the country thanking him for speaking out against devil-worshiping lyrics in rock music. The cardinal said a sermon he gave last week in which he warned about evil lyrics in rock music had sparked the greatest reaction he had ever received on any subject about which he has spoken. O’Connor mentioned the “Suicide Solution” by heavy-metal singer Ozzy Osbourne as a prime example of a song with possibly abusive lyrics. The cardinal said he would not accept Osbourne’s invitation to discuss the matter.
