Tony De Lap is one of the first three artists selected to design outdoor sculpture for Foothill Ranch, a 2,700-acre Saddleback Valley planned community being developed by Hon Development Co. that is to feature up to 200 public artworks and performing arts events. De Lap, a UC Irvine fine art professor; Eric Orr of Venice and John Svenson of Upland will submit designs to a Foothill Ranch Urban Arts Program task force for final approval. One of the artworks may be installed by June 3, when Hon executives plan to launch the arts program officially and to open model homes. The other artworks should be installed in about a year. The planned community is to be developed over 10 years.
