Press Opens His Drive for Insurance Commissioner

Share

Officially launching his campaign for state insurance commissioner at a painters union local in Van Nuys, former television commentator Bill Press told a crowd of about 100 that he would “fight for all the people against the greed and arrogance and insensitivity of the big insurance companies.”

Referring to the insurance reform initiative passed by voters in November, 1988, Press said Sunday that the firms are trying to act “as if Proposition 103 never happened. But when I’m insurance commissioner, the companies are going to know it happened and that it’s the law of the land.”

The former KABC commentator is seeking the Democratic nomination for the post.
