RATING GAME: The bad news: U.S. News and World Report’s new ratings of the best engineering and medical schools don’t include UC Irvine. The good news: UCI’s 25-year-old engineering school was dubbed one of six “up and comers.” . . . Said UCI spokeswoman Linda Granell: “These surveys come out constantly. . . . It’s a nice form of recognition but you don’t look at them and say, ‘Oh goodness! We’re not on the list!’ ”
