WEST BERLIN — Vandals stuck a pig’s head with a swastika in its mouth on a memorial in West Berlin to Jews deported and exterminated by Adolf Hitler’s Nazi regime, police said Thursday.
It was the second time in two years that the monument has been defaced. In January 1989, a group calling itself the “April 20 movement”--the date of Hitler’s birthday--claimed responsibility for an identical attack.
World Jewish groups have expressed concern at the rise of neo-Nazism among young people in both East and West Germany.
