COUNTYWIDE : Foundation Asks for $55,600 Arts Grant
The Ventura Community Foundation has requested a record grant of $55,600 from Ventura County.
The request, under consideration by the Ventura County Arts Commission, must be approved by supervisors before it can be submitted to state officials for final consideration.
Arts Commission Assistant Administrator Sandy Snyder said the matter will probably be discussed at the April 11 meeting in the Ventura County Government Center.
The grant would fund foundation projects in 1990 and 1991.
The most recent grant of $40,000 was the largest the community foundation has ever received. Arts Commission Program Administrator Sonja Chala said previous grants have been in the $10,000 range.
The money represents one-third of the foundation’s budget. The remainder comes from the Irvine Foundation and private grants.
Chala’s department is the regional branch of the California Arts Council. Chala said all counties in the state compete for grant money.
