A new state hot line for the public to use to complain about doctors or inquire whether they are breaking any laws went into operation this week. The hot line is operated by the Medical Board of California, which is responsible for investigating allegations of gross negligence, incompetence, fraud, abuse of patients and other illegal acts by the 100,000 physicians and surgeons licensed to practice in California. Consumers who want to complain about a doctor or find out if a physician’s behavior violates any laws can contact the Medical Board of California at (800) 633-2322.
