California In Brief : SAN DIEGO : 2 Officials’ Deaths a Murder-Suicide
Police called the deaths of two San Diego school district officials an apparent murder-suicide. Dead were George Frey, an assistant superintendent in charge of community relations and integration programs, and Elizabeth Tomblin, a district administrator. Police said Frey, 57, apparently shot Tomblin, 43, and then himself in his home. Tomblin, who lived in La Mesa, was reported missing Friday. She was married to a veterinarian. Frey was divorced. Schools Supt. Tom Payzant said he was shocked. “I worked very closely with both of them and they were both fine people with strong professional reputations,” he said.
