American Ballet Theater, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, will open its season with a repeat performance of its Jan. 14 anniversary gala.

The May 7 to June 30 season at the Metropolitan Opera House will also feature the New York premiere of Twyla Tharp’s “Brief Fling” and the New York premieres by the ABT of Sir Frederick Ashton’s “Birthday Offering” and Tharp’s “Nine Sinatra Songs.” Ballet Theater danced an excerpt from the latter, “Sinatra Suite,” in 1984.

Also highlighting the season will be revivals of five highly acclaimed works from the company’s past: Antony Tudor’s “Dark Elegies” and “Garden of the Lilacs” and Agnes de Mille’s “Fall River Legend” and “Rodeo.”
