From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A San Diego woman charged with murdering her ex-husband and his second wife was bound over for trial after an emotional preliminary hearing in which friends and family testified that she admitted committing the crimes. Prosecutors and police told Municipal Judge E. Mac Amos Jr. that on Nov. 5, Elisabeth Anne (Betty) Broderick, 42, used her daughter’s key to enter the home of Daniel T. Broderick III, 44, and his wife, Linda, 28. Then, friends testified Betty told them, she went to the bedroom, emptied her five-shot, .38-caliber revolver at the couple and ripped a bedside phone out of the wall. Lee Broderick, Betty and Daniel Broderick’s 18-year-old daughter, testified that her mother said Daniel’s dying words were: “OK, you shot me. I’m dead.” The defendant is being held without bail pending arraignment in Superior Court on April 3.
