FCC Chairman Briefs TV Executives: FCC Chairman Alfred C. Sikes told Hollywood and network chiefs gathered in Washington that “the outcome of any rule making is far from certain” regarding proposals to change the government’s so-called financial interest and syndication rules. Those regulations prevent the networks from engaging in the potentially lucrative domestic television program syndication business that annually generate hundreds of millions of dollars for the Hollywood studios. He again urged the studios and networks to come up with their own compromise to present to the FCC. Sikes had called the executives in the wake of the FCC’S decision last week to scrap the old rule making.
