Avery International Corp.: The Pasadena-based manufacturer of tapes, adhesives and office products said first-quarter net income edged up to $20.4 million from $20.3 million. Sales increased 4% to $431 million. Excluding currency effects, sales increased 5% and net income 2%, Avery said. The firm attributed the small gains to slower growth in several of the company’s key industrial markets.
