Permits issued for construction of single-family homes in the county hit a six-year low point in 1989. As a percentage of statewide activity, 1989’s was the smallest percentage in 13 years. The number of like permits for multifamily housing was the fewest since 1984; as a percentage of statewide activity 1989’s total was the lowest since 1986. Here are the comparisons:
