It’s spring! From the cool temperatures to the partly cloudy skies, everything about this first weekend of the vernal equinox is running true to seasonal form, the National Weather Service says.

A dissipating storm from north of Hawaii will bring lots of low clouds and some morning drizzle but no rain today, said Wilbur Shigehara, senior meteorologist for the weather service. Afternoon skies will be sunny, and the temperatures countywide will be on the chilly side, he said.

A weak high-pressure system Saturday will provide the only cloud-free day of the weekend, Shigehara said. A second storm Sunday will pack plenty of low clouds but no rain, he said. The afternoon is expected to be sunny, he said.

Temperatures countywide are following the norm for early spring, Shigehara said. The high Thursday at Lindbergh Field was 63, he said.

Highs at the beaches today will range from 58 to 63, nudging up a few degrees Saturday before dropping into the low 60s on Sunday, Shigehara said. The ocean water is 57, and the surf is at 3 feet.

Coastal highs will be from 64 to 69 today, increasing to between 65 and 72 Saturday, and pulling back a few degrees Sunday, Shigehara said. The overnight lows are expected to range from 50 to 57 degrees.

Highs inland this weekend will be in the low to mid 70s, Shigehara said. Lows will be 47 to 52 tonight, 45 to 50 Saturday night, he said.

Clouds will extend into the foothills this weekend, Shigehara said. Mountain highs will range in the low 60s. Lows will be in the mid 30s tonight and in the low 30s Saturday night.

Desert highs today will range from 85 to 89, from 86 to 91 Saturday and from 80 to 86 on Sunday, Shigehara said. Lows will range from 52 to 58 tonight and from 46 to 52 Saturday night, he said.
