ON THE TOWN:

It seemed as if everywhere we went last weekend, we were surrounded by celebrities (it was awful, we’re telling ya). We had hardly got in the door to see Delbert McClinton tear it up at Club Lingerie when we bumped into Southside Johnny, Glenn Frey, Bonnie Bramlett, Harry Shearer and a host of other fans. And when McClinton came back for a second round of R&B; gems, he was joined by Dan Aykroyd (in a baggy pair of boy-scout master khaki shorts) who blew harp and crooned “B-Movie Boxcar Blues” with McClinton. . . . The Hollywood types were also on hand Sunday night at the Roxy to see Les Negresses Vertes, the raucous French folk-warriors who sound like the Pogues with a Gallic twist. The show-biz contingent was led by Madonna and Warren Beatty, who sat quietly in the back, as well as actresses Isabelle Huppert, Molly Ringwald and Lauren Hutton. . . . And while Richard Marx wasn’t in town, his video crew was here, finishing up the popster’s “Children of the Night” video with a handful of real-life reformed teen prostitutes appearing in the clip. Marx has donated the lifetime royalties from the song, which appears on his “Repeat Offender” album, to the Children of the Night organization, which aids runaway teens.
