LA HABRA : Yard, Garage Sale Limits to Be Studied
- Share via
Restrictions on garage and yard sales will be considered by the City Council at an upcoming meeting. At last week’s council meeting, the city staff was directed to investigate complaints about residents who hold weekly sales.
Councilman William Mahoney reported that some residents leave their wares outside during the week. The area involved “is in a very nice part of town” and the sales are unsightly, he said.
Mahoney also said that “people are very good about putting signs up advertising garage sales, but they’re not very good about taking them down.” The councilman suggested that fines be imposed on residents who fail to retrieve signs within a few days after a garage sale.
Councilman James Flora noted that many signs are posted on utility poles. “That is a misdemeanor,” he said.
Mahoney suggested that residents be restricted to a maximum number of sales each year.
