From Times staff and Wire reports
In a resurgence of violence in the Caucasus, Armenian nationalists killed nine Azerbaijanis, including a family of five who were burned alive, Tass reported. Attacks occurred in three villages along the border of Christian Armenia and Muslim Azerbaijan. The violence was the worst since martial law was declared in January in an effort to halt open fighting between residents of the two republics. Tass also reported that a train in Armenia on its way to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, was rocked by an explosion.
