Greyhound Sued Over Picket’s Death
The widow and children of a Greyhound bus driver have filed a $50-million lawsuit against the company and the replacement driver of the bus that crushed him.
Robert Waterhouse, 59, was killed March 3 while walking a picket line on the second day of a nationwide Greyhound strike. A bus driven by a non-union driver struck him in an alley behind the Redding depot. Police are still investigating the incident, and the Shasta County district attorney is expected to decide soon whether to file criminal charges.
The replacement driver, Theodore Graham Jr. of Portland, Ore., and Greyhound are named as defendants in the wrongful-death suit filed in Shasta County Superior Court.
